Cutting, carving & charcuterie boards & butchers blocks
Wood I Build It culinary boards come in a variety of sizes and are made from a wide variety of beautiful Australian hardwoods such as blackbutt, jarrah and redgum, using premium water-resistant adhesives. The designs are as unique as the boards – no board is the same. Where possible, Stephen procures recycled timber from privately sourced offcuts, so the available designs will trend according to supply.
Top-quality food-safe mineral oils and waxes bring out the depth, colour and grains of the woods that make these boards such striking additions to any kitchen benchtop or dining setting. The undersides of these boards are plain with no pads, so those with juice grooves and/or central meat spikes can be turned over for cutting or presenting breads and other types of food.
Culinary boards in beautiful Australian hardwood
Cutting Board
These cutting boards feature a juice groove on one side and can be turned over for a plain cutting surface on the other side. Depending on the thickness, these boards can also feature inset finger grips for ease of lifting.
Carving Board
These carving boards feature recessed stainless steel spikes and a juice groove on one side and can be turned over for a plain cutting surface on the other side. The boards also feature inset finger grips for ease of lifting.
End Grain Board
The vertical wood fibres in the end grain are better for knives, keeping them sharp for longer, but not all are used for chopping. They are usually thicker and heavier than long grain boards. They feature inset finger grips for ease of lifting and can also incorporate decorative corner brackets.
Butchers Blocks
Made in various sizes, these endgrain butchers blocks are at least 65mm thick and are heavy. Each features a juice groove on top and a plain underside. It may have deep inset finger grips or handles for ease of carrying. Optional decorative corner brackets complete the elegance of the block.
Charcuterie & Long Boards
Charcuterie boards are made in a variety of hardwoods and come in a range of sizes from 220x250mm, perfect for cheese boards, to up to 300x400mm and up to 20mm thick. Long boards come in a variety of lengths up to 900mm with a usual width of around 230mm, making them an ideal table centrepiece.
Coasters
Like all the boards, the coasters are made from a variety of hardwoods and come in sets of six. They are finished in a hard-wearing water-based satin varnish and the base is covered with baize to avoid scratching bench or tabletop surfaces.
